Choosing the right necklace length is a personal decision. One that reflects how you like your jewellery to sit, layer and move with you. While standard lengths offer helpful guidance, the way a necklace rests can vary slightly depending on individual proportions and styling preferences.

If you already own a necklace you love the way it sits, using it as a reference can be the simplest way to find your ideal length. Some of our designs are also intended to be layered, so you may wish to consider how different lengths work together when choosing your piece.

how to find your ideal length

Option One: Measure an Existing Necklace

Select a necklace you already own that sits at your preferred length. Lay it flat on a ruler or measuring tape, including the clasp, and note the total length in centimetres. Choose the closest matching length from our guide.

Option Two: Measure Around Your Neck

If you don’t have a necklace to measure, use a piece of string, ribbon, or a soft measuring tape. Gently place it around your neck to where you’d like the chain or pendant to rest. Remove it and measure the length against a ruler to determine your ideal size.

Our Chain Lengths, Thoughtfully Designed

Our standard Tale of Heart necklaces are offered in 15 inches or 16 inches, each finished with a 3-inch extender. This allows you to adjust the length with ease, wearing your piece close to the heart, slightly lower or layered effortlessly with other necklaces as your story unfolds.

For personalised pieces, you are invited to select the exact chain length that feels right for you. These are crafted to order and do not include extenders, unless you choose to add one.
