1. Can I wear 14 karat solid gold jewellery every day?

Yes. 14 karat solid gold is selected for it’s durability and suitability for everyday wear. Our pieces are made to move with you through work, travel, celebration and stillness alike. To preserve their form and finish, we recommend removing your jewellery during activities that may expose it to:

  • Impact or abrasion

  • Heavy lifting or physical labour

  • Gym workouts, yoga, or contact sports

  • Extreme heat or rapid temperature changes

This helps protect delicate settings, fine chains and polished surfaces over time.
2. Will 14 karat solid gold tarnish or fade?

14 karat solid gold is naturally resistant to tarnishing and corrosion. With wear, it may develop a soft patina, a gentle warmth that enhances it‘s character rather than diminishes it. Exposure to chemicals such as chlorine, cleaning agents, thermal pools, magnesium soaks, perfumes, lotions, hair products and cosmetics may temporarily dull the surface. Regular gentle cleaning and mindful wear will help maintain it‘s natural radiance.
3. How should I clean my 14 karat solid gold jewellery?

For routine care:

  • Soak your piece in lukewarm water with a few drops of mild, fragrance free soap

  • Gently brush with a soft toothbrush to remove residue

  • Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a soft, lint free cloth

  • Finish with a jewellery polishing cloth for a soft glow

We do not recommend ultrasonic or steam cleaners, as some gemstones and delicate settings require gentler handling.
4. How should I store my jewellery?

Store each piece individually to prevent scratching and tangling:

  • In your Tale of Heart pouch when travelling

  • In the jewellery box provided

  • Or in a soft, velvet lined jewellery case or drawer

Avoid prolonged exposure to humidity, direct sunlight, and extreme temperature changes. This protects both metal and gemstones and preserves surface finish.
5. Can I shower or swim with my jewellery?

While 14 karat solid gold is durable, we recommend removing your jewellery before:

  • Swimming in pools or the ocean

  • Showering or bathing

  • Thermal pools, hot springs, magnesium or salt soaks

Heat, minerals, and chemicals can gradually affect polish, settings and gemstone security over time.
6. Should I polish my jewellery?

Occasional gentle polishing with a soft cloth is safe. Excessive or frequent polishing, particularly on gemstone set pieces, may cause unnecessary surface wear.

For long term care, we recommend professional cleaning and inspection every one to two years.
7. How often should I inspect my jewellery?

Because many Tale of Heart pieces are fine and delicately set, we suggest:

  • Periodic self checks of clasps, chains, and stone settings

  • Professional inspection annually or every two years

This helps ensure stones remain secure and structures remain sound, especially for pieces worn daily.
