WE’VE CONFUSED QUALITY WITH ZERO MAINTENANCE.

WE’VE CONFUSED QUALITY WITH ZERO MAINTENANCE.

Know what you're buying, wear what you love and treasure it for years to come. It's wild to think we've reached a point where caring for something is made to sound like a problem. As though the best jewellery is the kind that never needs looking after. But when did zero maintenance become the measure of quality?

It’s important to know that not all metals are created equal.

Gold plated: A thin layer of real gold over another metal. The plating can wear away, exposing what's underneath.

Stainless steel: Durable and corrosion resistant, but not a precious metal.

Sterling silver: A precious metal that can tarnish, but can often be cleaned, polished and restored.

Solid gold: Gold throughout the alloy, not just on the surface. No plating to wear away. Can often be polished, repaired and reworked.

Each has its place, but understanding the difference matters. Whatever you choose, you deserve to know what it's made of. Especially when these are things we wear against our skin, often every single day.

And even the finest jewellery will show signs of wear. Little scratches, softened edges and sometimes a gentle patina. That doesn't make it any less precious. Many precious metal pieces can be cleaned, polished and restored with the right care.

Think about the jewellery our parents or grandparents have worn for decades. The little marks, the familiar shapes, the stories they carry. We don't love those pieces because they've remained untouched. We love them because they've been part of a life.

Jewellery is meant to be worn, loved and lived in. Not saved for a day that may never feel special enough. Everything in life goes a little further with love and care. So does your jewellery.

And the next time you come across those clever marketing promises, perhaps ask yourself what's really behind the words.
